Holiday Query Blog Hop

Hey Everyone,

Here's my entry for the Holiday Query Blog Hop:

Dear Agent,

On Daniella Montgomery’s twenty-fifth birthday, she winds up in jail. And not just because she mistook an officer for a hired stripper.

When Daniella learns her best friend sent over a stripper to help spice up what should’ve been a relaxing, stress-free birthday, she freaks. In a desperate attempt to keep this event a secret from her next door neighbor –the sophisticated, uptight boss at her law firm–Daniella drags the wrong man inside.

Despite the circumstances, the attraction is obvious before her forward actions land her in handcuffs by Atlanta PD’s Detective Malcolm Jones for inappropriate behavior. But her special day isn’t done with its surprises as evidence points Daniella as the main suspect in a serial homicide.

Detective Jones is caught between his duty and desire for the mesmerizing woman who maybe more trouble than she looks. Though he tries to deny it –set on putting the law before all else –he ultimately finds himself breaking all the rules to save the woman he’s fallen for.

Determined to fight for their future after being scorned by the law they both service, the two searches for the true killer before Daniella is sentenced to a lifetime of birthdays in jail.

BIRTHDAY DISASTER is an adult romantic suspense novel at 56,000 words. It is told in a dual third person point of view.

Thank you for your time and consideration.

Sincerely,

Nicole Payne

Pre-Order Apolonia by Jamie McGuire

Don't forget to pre-order Jamie McGuire's new book Apolonia. Will be released October 6th. I'm so excited. Already have my order in so now it's your turn. You won't regret it. You're probably thinking...

and why? Well, when I read the summary, I couldn't not order it. It was just too good. I love all of Jamie McGuire's books and I know this will be just as fantastic as the rest. And if that's not enough to pique your interest then here's a little extra incentive. For the next two days, there's a contest where one lucky winner and their three friends and/or family members will receive a 3 night stay at the Grand Floridian Hotel at Walt Disney World for January 16-19, 2015 plus $500 spending cash.

I KNOW RIGHT?! I feel the same, Genie.

So pre-order today. Time is running out. And good luck to the future winner *cough me*. So...

Just kidding (mostly, lol) But praying for a miracle here. :D

Birthday Disaster

On September 22,  the 2014 So You Think You Can Write Contest opened up. I'm so excited to have entered the first chapter of my new book "Birthday Disaster". It was so nerve-wrecking and scary to put my work online for people to read but I'm glad I did it. I received some wonderful feedback as a result and guess what?

THEY LIKED IT!!!

Yup. They really did.

I got 14 reviews saying it was funny and a great way to start the chapter. In fact, read the reviews yourself by clicking the link below and feel free to leave comments. They are most appreciated.

Birthday Disaster

I wait until October 6 before I learn if I made it to the Top 25. Chances are really slim. So far there are already 300 entries and still four days until the close the submission round. But I will stay positive. Miracles could happen.

So I'm off to get some work done. Have to polish my book to so it'll look good for when I win, lol. Later :D

Moving forward

So I failed to get into Pitch Wars.

But that's okay. There are others who did and I know they'll do great. And although I didn't become a mentee or alternate, I did learn some valuable lessons from having entered and I that's what truly matters. I learned some tips on how to better my writing and that I shouldn't give up. In the words of one of my mentor choices, she said and I quote "It took me many books before I snagged my agent and each time brought me a little bit closer.  Keep pushing and you'll make it.  I only needed that one yes – and it was the right yes for me.You’ll find your yes. In the meantime, keep revising, keep submitting, and keep writing." And that is what I planned to do.

In addition, what I discovered is it's freaking terrifying that first time when you put yourself out there to let people read your writing. But it helps in your development and makes it a little easier to show the world your writing next time. I gained some major confidence points when I submitted my work for Pitch Wars and Write On Con. And with that confidence I just entered into the SYTYCW (So You Think You Can Dance....Oops I meant Write).  I may not win, or heck get to the next round but I'm still proud of myself for the success.

And with this mindset of mine, I'm going to put on my determined face and write and I'll keep moving forward until I get my yes.

Until next time! :D

P.S. If anyone's interested in reviewing the first chapter of my SYTYCW 2014 entry: "Birthday Disaster", feel free to leave comments. I love love comments. I eat them up.

Pitch Wars Mentee Bio!!

Hi everyone. So I just finished entering Pitch wars and I was like:

And this...

And even this..

Though they do it better. But I decided to post a little bit about myself.

First of all, this is me...

When I haven't eaten for long periods of time (just kidding...mostly). But on a everyday basis, I look like this:

Adorable, I know.

So a little bit about me. I have gone by my middle name since elementary school (I was tired of standing in the back of the line and N is closer to A in the alphabet than T) and so I've been called Nicole ever since. I'm 23 and just graduated with my Master's in Forensic Genetics. I'm not only cute but smart too!!

Double Whammy

So things I like. Let's see. I like books (duh!) and foreign dramas (it helps my speed reading so I can read more books!!) and Chinese food (no need to explain. You already now, I'm sure). Oh, and mint chocolate chip ice cream as it solves all problems. Even if it is the end of the world.

I love traveling but I hate airports. Can't stand crowded places. It makes me claustrophobic (at least in my mind).

Oh yeah, some stuff about writing. I started writing when I was in elementary school. I used to write those couple page books about princesses and dragons and stuff. (Again I was in elementary school). Then I grew up and when I was in middle I wanted to be one of those moody poets, so I switched over to poetry. I wrote quite a few poems (all bad) which are still somewhere in cyberspace. (Try Poetry.com and search my full name in the archives if you're in for a laugh). Then high school came and writing was put on hold because it wasn't a career and I needed to do something that actually made money. Blah. Blah. Blah. Boy was I nagged.

So I went off to college and majored in biology and then went on into forensics and now that I have time to breathe, I started writing again. And I'll probably go back to writing about princesses and dragons someday (Cuz dragons are awesome) THE END.

So that's pretty much it. Until next time.

Okay, now I'm done.
